Thanksgiving weekend gave us perfect weather condition to go do a small 6.2 km (round trip) hiking in the Gatineau park. We went to see the magnificent green, orange, yellow and red colours of the leaves. We parked our car closed to L'Orée du Bois where we saw a public parking. We then started our hiking trip with a short stop on a bridge near the Chelsea downtown village. We came back up the hill and crossed the road to start the trail according to AllTrails. There was people walking with dogs, families and mountain bike as well for the entire path. We were lucky because these wasn't a lot of people on the path, maybe most went on Saturday or Sunday, we went on the Monday.
The trail was beautiful, when autumn comes around you only have a short period of time when you can see the leaf in different colours. There was a few steep areas that made us work extra to climb but it was a great workout! Once we reached the top and arrived at Wattsford's Lookout we saw the entire Gatineau Park landscape in multicolours with Gatineau/Ottawa skyline in the background it was such a nice lookout to pause and appreciate.
A sign indicating that bears were active was shown right before entering the Wattsford's Lookout. A reminder to stay alert and safe while hiking during that time of the year.
